Welcome from Lucy Nickson, Senior Independent Director

Thank you for your interest in becoming Chair of Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (DBTH).

This is a significant moment for the Trust. DBTH has set a clear long-term vision and a practical three-year plan. The next Chair will lead the Board in converting that ambition into measurable delivery, maintaining a relentless focus on safe, exceptional, person-centred care while supporting the organisation to become stable, sustainable and confident through a period of change.

We are looking for a visible, values-led and experienced Board leader. You will bring the judgement and resolve to hold the organisation to account for targets and outcomes, alongside the humility and collaborative instinct to embrace DBTH’s shared leadership model. You will help create the conditions for a positive culture shift and will personally model the standards, behaviours and accountability expected of others.

The role calls for someone prepared to take ownership of the Chair’s full contribution: leading a unitary Board, working constructively with the Council of Governors, building a strong relationship with the Chief Executive, engaging colleagues and communities, and representing DBTH with partners and regulators. There is no doubt this will be a challenging role but also one that will be hugely rewarding at a time of change and opportunity.
