Description

Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (DBTH) is one of Yorkshire’s leading acute Trusts, serving a population of more than 440,000 people through three main hospital sites and a dedicated workforce of over 7,300 colleagues. We are proud to be a Teaching Hospital, training 25% of the region’s medical students and playing a major role in shaping the future NHS workforce.

We are entering into an exciting new chapter under the leadership of our Interim Chief Executive, Dr Richard Jenkins, who remains Chief Executive of provider Trusts in both Barnsley and Rotherham. Richard’s appointment creates further opportunities for us to deepen our partnerships and collaboration across South Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire.

This Deputy Chief Executive role represents a rare opportunity to step into a broad and significant leadership position with the ability to shape the future direction of DBTH and our wider systems in both South Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire.  Regularly deputising for our Chief Executive, you will work with the board to deliver our vision: Healthier Together – delivering exceptional healthcare for all, leading a broad portfolio including strategy, transformation, improvement, partnerships, and place-based working. Comfortable in leading at system level, you will work with partners across our two ICBs to strengthen our contribution as an anchor institution, to the neighbourhood agenda and to our provider collaboratives.  Internally you will provide visible leadership and empower colleagues to accelerate the modernisation of our services; improving outcomes and reducing health inequalities for our communities.

We are seeking an exceptional executive leader with significant experience at board level and a track record of strategic leadership, performance improvement, and organisational change gained within complex NHS environments. Politically astute, inclusive and highly collaborative, you will quickly build trusted relationships across organisational and system boundaries. You will be comfortable leading through complexity and ambiguity, with the personal credibility, authenticity, and influence to inspire confidence in our workforce, our board and our partners. Above all, you will be passionate about improving outcomes for patients, reducing health inequalities and will role model the DBTH Way as we strive to realise our vision for the future.

As an equal opportunities employer, we encourage applicants from all sectors of the community, particularly from under-represented groups including those with disabilities, members of our ethnic minorities, and LGBTQ+ communities.
